Review 3D Movie

Continue the action-packed journey of John Rambo with the sequel to First Blood. A lot more action, a lot more fun, but overall a less good film that feels right at home in 3D.

Having seen this film 23 times in theaters alone and not counting the many times I've seen it on VHS, LaserDisc, DVD and Blu-ray, could make me a little biased in writing this review. ----- Our hero was sentenced to a labor camp after the events in First Blood and is now given the opportunity for rehabilitation. His mission: To track down prisoners of war. Despite initial difficulties, he completed the task much better than planned and thus became a political target. He stays behind, the mission is aborted and John is captured. The Russian commander of the Vietnamese prison camp wants to gain political advantage from this incident too. But even torture can't break Rambo. What others call hell, he calls home. He manages to escape, leaving a bloody trail of destruction behind him and now has two targets: the mission and revenge for the betrayal. ----- The 3D is fantastic, I never would have hoped that it would be possible to realize this film so well. Of course, Rambo 2 was my favorite of the Rambo films, just because of the great locations, jungle, big rivers, hilly landscapes with a lot of space and the tons of great action scenes. The camera work in Rambo 2 is also brilliant. All of that probably made converting something big. The jungle is beautifully staged, all the distances are perfectly balanced, the aerial shots, the tracking shots and camera pans are superbly choreographed. Very good 3D in many parts, extremely good 3D in certain scenes. This makes everything seem very natural and harmonious. The 3D expands the playing area enormously, everything becomes much larger and more impressive, you almost feel like a tiny player in a huge game. Of all the times I've seen this film, it's never been this gripping. The explosions are breathtaking, the action is close enough to touch and the body count is extremely realistic. I literally wanted to get involved and never thought that I could hate a person in the film that I already hated even more intensely. Pay attention to the scene at the beginning of the film, John and Trautman at the fence in the prison camp. Extremely clean 3D. This scene alone must have consumed hours of time. Very successful version. Thank you so much, for the great and worthy work on this fantasitc action movie of the good old 80s.

Again, not my kind of film. However, I enjoyed part 1 so much I had to give part 2 a try. The conversion on this film blew me away. JFC truly is an artist. The 3D in this film was so good, most of the time you feel as if you're there. Very impressed with another winner!

This is the first Rambo film where we actually got to see Rambo go all out. Action packed from beginning to end. Big muscle, explosions and guns... a lot of guns! The 3D here enhances the film making battle scenes feel much grander. Another solid conversion by JFC.
