But children grow up and forget their imaginary friends, leaving them to exist in this world alone and restless, deprived of attention and love. They no longer believe in them, which means they don’t see them. But one girl suddenly begins to see and talk to all the imaginary friends she meets - furry, funny, kind and... not so. Twelve-year-old Bea moves into her grandmother Margaret's apartment in New York while her father awaits heart surgery in that the same hospital where her mother died of cancer several years earlier. One night, Bea goes out to buy a charger for her mother's old video camera and sees a strange creature following her back to her grandmother's house.
