Crimson Peak 3D Blu Ray 2015

Edith is a young writer who, after her father’s death, marries the enigmatic English aristocrat Thomas Sharp and moves with him to his ancestral estate. The house turns out to be almost as important a character as its inhabitants: a huge, dilapidated mansion standing in the middle of a snow-covered wasteland and literally falling apart before their eyes. Edith begins to notice strange occurrences. Ghostly figures roam the house, Thomas is clearly hiding something, and his sister Lucille is behaving in an increasingly frightening manner. Gradually, it becomes clear that the Sharp family has a history they are desperate to keep hidden.

This is more of a gothic fairy tale for adults than a typical horror film. Guillermo del Toro placed a huge emphasis on the visual aspect: red clay, black snow, costumes, blood, and the mansion itself create an almost fairy-tale-like world. And the ghosts here aren’t necessarily the scariest thing Edith will encounter.
