Coming to America 3D 1988 follows Prince Akeem of the wealthy African nation of Zamunda. On his 21st birthday, tired of his pampered life and arranged marriage, he decides to travel to America to find an independent woman who will love him for his character, not his title. Accompanied by his loyal friend Semmi, Akeem arrives in Queens, New York, posing as a poor foreign student. They get jobs at a fast-food restaurant owned by the quick-tempered Mr. McDowell. There, Akeem meets and falls for Lisa, the owner's intelligent and strong-willed daughter. He must navigate working-class life, keep his true identity secret, and win her heart while dodging his father's attempts to bring him home.
