Cannon Group... those were the days. Groundbreaking films at the time. Often not necessarily particularly demanding, but always in tune with the times. Lots of stars, quick cuts, great soundtracks and good action characterize most of the Cannon Group's films. “Masters of the Universe” was one of Menahem Golan and Yoram Globus' most expensive and at the same time greatest productions. To edit the film, one of the world's best film editors was brought on board, Anne V. Coates, who has already edited countless large-scale productions such as Lawrens of Arabia, The Elephant Man and Greystoke. Film music legend Bill Conti was responsible for the soundtrack and with Dolph Lundgren they found an almost perfect leading actor for the role of He-Man. Some will still dismiss the film as trash. If you want to look at it that way, it's an absolute gem among trash films. The film has more facets than almost any other from this time. It's a great mix of science fiction, humor, adventure and action that you rarely find. The film has various borrowings, Star Wars, Conan the Barbarian, to name just two. But it is not a cheap imitation, but develops its own direction in which many viewers will feel comfortable. As a comic book adaptation, Masters of the Universe had to make a lot of compromises. After all, the original is a series with well over 100 episodes. But in my opinion it was implemented very well. The 3D is excellently interpreted and, with the exception of a few scenes, offers very good depth and even some great pop-outs. The choreography of the 3D elements, especially after arriving on our planet, in the invasion elements and the many outdoor scenes at night, give the film a huge scope and the indoor scenes like in the warehouse are spectacular. Almost as if you could intervene in the action yourself. As far as possible, a very good 3D experience was achieved in many parts and an excellent 3D experience in some scenes. A great upgrade for a classic that already enjoys cult status...

I always find it funny how He-Man is kinda clumsy with the sword trying to get in and out of a car. The earth invasion and the big finale offers some spectacular 3D effects. Another cult classic in the bag. JFC has done it again!
