The Bubble 3D Blu Ray 1966

A young couple and their child are involved in a plane crash and find themselves near a small American town. At first glance, everything seems normal here: the residents are friendly, the streets are quiet, and the town itself looks completely ordinary. But something is off, and it quickly becomes clear that it’s impossible to leave this place, and the people around them are acting as if they’re hiding something important.

The most interesting fact has to do with technology. The Bubble is considered the first feature-length film shot specifically for 3D screening using the Space-Vision 3D system. In 1966, this was a rather bold attempt to make 3D cinema not just a collection of spectacular shots, but part of a full-fledged science fiction story.

This Version 21 minutes longer that hasn't been seen in 60 years. Originally released with a running time of 112 minutes but several critics complained about the slow pacing so, in 1968, director Arch Oboler cut it to 91 minutes. Unfortunately, the edits were made directly to the original camera negative and the footage was discarded. It was thought to be lost until a personal copy of the original print belonging to Deborah Walley was located. The 2014 Kino Lorber blu-ray retains the original title & 3-D but is still the 91 minute edit of the film.
