Tony Wendis, a playboy who owes his entire position to his marriage to the beautiful rich heiress Margot Wendis. When he learns that he could lose her millions, since Margot was carried away by the American detective novel writer Mark Holliday, he conceives a plan to kill. Tony contacts Captain Swan Lesgate, an old friend, working in contact with the underworld, and blackmails him, forcing him to kill Margo in order to remain in the shadows himself. The plan, however, fails in the movie Dial M for Murder 3D .
