Tron: Ares 3D 2025 is an upcoming American science fiction action film directed by Joachim Renning from a screenplay by Jesse Vigutow and Jack Thorne. It is a standalone sequel to Tron: Legacy and the third installment of the Tron franchise. The movie, produced by Walt Disney Pictures. Development on the sequel Tron: Legacy began in October 2010 by franchise creator Steven Lisberger. The film is about a highly advanced Ares program that is sent from the digital world to the real world on a dangerous mission that marks humanity's first encounter with artificial intelligence.
