Plitvice Lakes National Park in Winter, Croatia VR 360
Plitvice Lakes National Park is located in central Croatia and covers almost 30,000 hectares. The area was declared a national park in 1949, and 30 years later it was included in the UNESCO World Heritage List. The park is famous for its beech, spruce and fir forests, as well as its diversity of flora and fauna, including hundreds of species of plants, animals and birds. However, its main attraction is its water spaces: the rivers which, flowing through the limestone, have formed a unique landscape with natural dams, cascades of lakes, waterfalls and caves. There are 16 large karst lakes and many smaller ones in the park, with a total area of 217 hectares. The lakes are fed by five rivers: Korana, Crna, Bijela and Rjecica. They are arranged in cascades, the highest of them - Proščanskoe - is at an altitude of 636 meters above sea level, and the lowest - Lake Novakovića Brod - at an altitude of 503 meters.
