A bee who has just graduated from college will know the world beyond the hive. When she finds out that people eat honey produced by bees, she decides to sue humanity. And thus can bring the world out of an unstable balance.

Having escaped from the hive, the nonconformist bee Barry Bee Benson settles down to live with a cheerful flower girl. Having adapted to the human world, Barry accidentally flies into an apiary, where he sees all the horrors of the honey industry: poor bees are poisoned with tobacco smoke. Spreading his wings, Barry goes to defend the rights of insects in the Supreme Court - which is what he does for a good half of the film.
