Avatar: The new era of 3D
James Cameron's Avatar franchise began with a technological revolution. The idea existed back in the 1990s, but it awaited the development of CGI. The 2009 film set box office records (over $2.9 billion) thanks to its immersive 3D experience and the world of Pandora. Interestingly, a full-fledged Navi language—thousands of words, with its own grammar and context—was developed by linguist Paul Frommer. Today, Avatar is a full-fledged media franchise with a number of films released.
