After finding a Russian Jew hiding in religious books, the cat discovers the language — and later regains French by becoming a translator. A Russian artist who fled Soviet Russia tells the story of a lost city of black Jews in Africa and convinces a rabbi, a cat, and a former soldier to go in search.
