Kambalnaya River. Part II VR 360
Upon arrival in Kamchatka we met our guide and zoo inspector Igor Shpilenkov. Two neat huts were waiting for us at the place, next to which there was a toilet stall. One detail attracted our attention and added to the exoticism of the place: in the toilet there was a hand-held rocket launcher designed for marking bears. Igor warned us to be careful, especially when we went out to fetch water from the nearby river. He also recommended that we not leave the hut without a shotgun. In fact, we didn't want to leave the hut: the temperature was about 10 degrees and a strong wind was driving clouds across the sky. We did not meet bears at the lake, but we learned that they fish in the river, which is only a few kilometers away from us.In the morning we went in search of our “actors”. Suddenly the sun came out! It became not just warm, but really hot. Five kilometers down the river we came across the first group of bears. We counted six, and they seemed to have noticed us too. Statistically, bears almost never attack groups of three or more, especially if they are standing or walking side by side. Besides, the smell of three sweaty people can't compare to the scent of fresh fish, so soon the bears stopped paying attention to us. There were a few more bears wandering in the bushes around us, and we decided to get to work.
