Putorana Plateau, Russia VR 360
On an early September morning, a group of people led by Russia Discovery Project Director Vadim Mamontov were aboard a boat that was to take them to Lama Lake on the Putorana Plateau. The recreation center founded by Oleg Krashevsky was located near the mouth of the Bunisyak River, in the eastern part of this lake. This place was to be their home for the duration of the expedition. The journey from Norilsk to the camp lasted about 7 hours and covered a distance of 170 km. Soon the group found themselves in the world of golden autumn, where larch trees still retained their amber “dresses”. The expedition members' work began the next morning and, to their delight, the weather was quite good, with sunny days for the first half of the week. Toward the end of the expedition, however, a typical gloomy fall set in. As for the living conditions, the recreation center “Bunisyak” was founded on the shore of Lake Lama in the late 90s. The owner of the campground, Oleg Krashevsky, was an advocate of the reserve, a keen ethnographer and a passionate collector of Nganasan cultural items, local folklore. The group lived in the main house, occupying cozy rooms, which were surprisingly comfortable in such a wilderness. The walls of the first and second floor halls were decorated with a part of Oleg's collection, which he had been collecting for several decades.
