Volcano Klyuchevskaya Sopka, Kamchatka, Russia VR 360
The author's relationship with volcanoes has been varied and intense. Arriving in Iceland, he encountered the Grimsvotn volcano, which unfortunately stopped erupting on the day of his arrival, leaving only a light puff of smoke captured on his iPhone. However, the Tolbachik volcano in Kamchatka delighted the author with an impressive eruption, providing the opportunity to create spectacular 360-degree videos and spherical photographs. The author has long been interested in the Kliuchevskaya Sopka volcano, admiring its perfect conical shape. It is not only the tallest erupting mountain in Eurasia, but also one of the tallest in the world, with the exception of South America. Kliuchevskaya Sopka erupts every couple of years, and its activity can last from two to three months. During peak eruptions, the height of the volcano can vary by hundreds of meters, although during normal times it is just under five kilometers. On January 1, 2015, a new eruption occurred and the AirPano team quickly decided on an expedition. All participants agreed that it was necessary to travel to the site of the event. The plan was to fit all the key work into one flight, from documentary photographs to stabilized 360 and 4k video, as well as the traditional spherical panoramas that have become AirPano's trademark.
