Millions of years ago, the Earth was young and its landscape was just forming: continents were joining and breaking up, ice caps were retreating, creating new landforms. Eventually, the Guiana Highlands - undulating plains with flat, as if cut tops - emerged on the territory of modern South America. When a river reaches the edge of such an elevation, a powerful stream falls off the cliff. This is how the famous Angel Falls in Venezuela appeared. Falling from a height of 800 meters, the water does not reach the ground and scatters into tiny drops, turning into a mist visible for several kilometers. The height of Angel Falls is 979 meters, making it the highest waterfall on the planet. It is located in the jungle of the Canaima National Park, where there are almost no roads. Today you have the opportunity not only to enjoy the magnificent view of this natural monument, but also to imagine what it looked like millions of years ago, when there were no humans here and the picturesque scenery could be observed by prehistoric animals and birds such as pterodactyls.
